Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh Rains And Weather: Amid heavy rainfall in Uttarakhand, the Yamunotri National Highway was blocked at two places between Silai Band and Ojri due to the washout of portions of the road in persistent downpour, officials said on Monday.

“The Yamunotri National Highway is blocked at two places between Silai Band and Ojri due to some parts of the highway being washed out. It may take time to restore the route,” the Uttarkashi Police said on X.

The police informed that the highway between Brahmkal and Mahargaon was also blocked due to the debris on the road. Efforts were on to clear them off the highway.

“Additionally, the Yamunotri Highway is blocked near Brahmkhal and Mahargaon due to debris, and work to clear it is ongoing,” the post said.

The District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) said that the average rainfall in Tehri Garhwal was recorded at 79.2mm.

Electricity supply was disrupted in several areas, such as Agrakhaal, Chamba, Jakhindhar, and Dughamandar. Water supply also took a hit in the Chamba block.

The Char Dham Yatra was suspended for 24 hours on Sunday, and was lifted on Monday. The Yatra was put on hold after a cloudburst incident near Barkot set off a massive landslide, in which two workers and killed and seven others went missing.

Himachal Pradesh Rains

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for Himachal Pradesh due to heavy rainfall. The Beas River is overflowing and causing serious flooding after very heavy rain in the area.

Himachal Pradesh is also being badly affected by the monsoon. The Shimla Meteorological Centre has issued a red alert for very heavy rain in 10 districts. Since June 20, at least 20 people have lost their lives in rain-related incidents in the state. In the past 24 hours alone, three more deaths have been reported—two due to drowning in Una and Bilaspur, and one from a fall in Shimla.

The IMD has issued a red alert for heavy rainfall in 10 districts of Himachal Pradesh, including Shimla, Solan, Sirmaur, Mandi, Kullu, Kangra, Chamba, Una, Hamirpur, and Bilaspur. These areas are already experiencing heavy rain.

The alert will remain in effect until June 30, and more rain is expected in the first week of July.
